Master of Divinity
“Not a day goes by that I do not draw on something received from Emmanuel in order to do my job better. At Emmanuel I was taught how to think more carefully, how to serve more thoughtfully, how to give more deeply, and to pray more knowledgeably. These, along with a love for learning, were Emmanuel’s gift to my life and ministry. And I shall be forever grateful.”

~Tony Twist, President, TCM International Institute (Haus Edelweiss, Austria)
Preparation for Ministry
The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is considered the standard program of ministerial education and is formally required for ordination by many churches. This 90 credit hour degree aims to provide a breadth of education in all the areas of theological learning, with a special focus on the practice of pastoral ministry. Whether you choose to pursue ministry on the mission field, in a rural church, in an urban counseling center, as a military chaplain, as a college professor, in a megachurch, as a hospital chaplain, or any other venue, you will need to have the background and training that provides a deep well of resources for you to draw on. The MDiv at Emmanuel Christian Seminary can get you there.

World-Class Faculty
The men and women who teach at Emmanuel are experts in their fields. All full-time faculty members and the majority of adjunct professors hold doctoral degrees, and every faculty member at Emmanuel has served in ministry, many for more than ten years before they began teaching. You will learn from professors who care not just about memorization of theological arguments and dates in church history but who are concerned about how the information you are learning will help you educate the people in your ministry through preaching, teaching, and serving.

Christian Community
From the intimate class settings to life in the Emmanuel Village, life at Emmanuel is a community experience. Each week, students worship together in chapel, learn together in the classroom, and most live next door to one another in the beautiful English townhouses that make up the Village. This community atmosphere is not limited to students’ relationships with one another. Faculty and staff are accessible and inviting, constantly guiding you as you learn how to minister in the classroom and in the ministries you participate in as a student.
