“While the task of seminary seems like a daunting one (and I don’t want to trick you, it is) Emmanuel is a place that has a system in place to come along beside you and help guide you down the path as you learn and think and further your spiritual depth.”
Preparation for Ministry
~ Isaac Schade, Worship Minister at Christ’s Church of Oronogo
The Master of Arts in Religion (MAR) is a 57 credit hour academic degree designed for students who wish to pursue further study in a professional field outside of traditional ministries and desire a theological background before entering a graduate or professional program. You may choose to focus your studies in Christian Theology, Church History, Historical Theology, New Testament, or Old Testament. If you want to pursue further academic work, you will need to have the background and training that provides a deep well of resources for you to draw on. Look no further than the MAR at Emmanuel Christian Seminary.
The men and women who teach at Emmanuel are experts in their fields. All full-time faculty members and the majority of adjunct professors have doctoral degrees, and every faculty member at Emmanuel has served in ministry, many for more than ten years before they began teaching. You will learn from professors who care not just about memorization of theological arguments and dates in church history but who are concerned about how the information you are learning will help you educate the people in your ministry through preaching, teaching, and serving.
From the intimate class settings to life in the Emmanuel Village, life at Emmanuel is a community experience. Each week, students worship together in chapel, learn together in the classroom, and live next door to one another in the beautiful English townhouses that make up the Village. This community atmosphere is not limited to students’ relationships with one another. Faculty and staff are accessible and inviting, constantly guiding you as you learn how to minister in the classroom and in the ministries you participate in as a student.
